You can prepare your CDR report without prior work experience, depending on your academic projects and training. If you don’t claim any points for your experience, the authority will not inspect your documents related to it. But in case you are presenting your CV with job experience, you need to include everything.
Because you will not be asking for an experience evaluation, you may put whatever you want in your Curriculum Vitae, even if your experience is irrelevant. Mention everything you’ve done since they want to see a feeling of continuity in your effort, even if you’re not claiming any points. Whether you want to mention your experience or not, you must put up your best effort on your CDR in either instance.
Now, let’s talk about a CDR report and how to write one without any prior job experience. The Competency Demonstration Report is a series of documentation needed by Engineers Australia to demonstrate competency in engineering abilities.

Write CDR report without prior Work Experience
There is a way for applicants who have no prior work experience. Concentrate on the career episode since it will detail all of the tasks you’ve done. Because you have no prior job experience, you can choose from projects you’ve completed throughout your academic years, training years, or even workshop-based projects. You must write the next part correctly.
Consider the structure described in the MSA booklet while drafting a CDR report. First, choose the engineering career for which you wish to be evaluated, and you’ll learn about the needed abilities for that job. You must include the following items in a CDR report:
Personal Information
Make sure to include all of the following information for each of the entities:
- CV/Resume
- Name change documents
- Passport size photo
- Prime ID
- Result of English language test (TOEFL® /IELTS / PTE ACADEMIC™)
Education
Do mention all the details of educational institutions. Take care of the upper case and lower case letters.
- Academic transcripts
- Degree Certificates
- Additional qualifications (if you have any)
- Enrolment letter
- Transcript (If you are enrolled in any formal educational program)
Application Information
Choose the engineering occupation wisely and add only the relevant documents and information.
- Nominated engineering occupation
- Evidence of registration (if applicable)
Employment
If you have claimed an engineering job for more than a year, then you must provide a reference letter with all the necessary details from the employer.
- Evidence of your employment
- Original and translational language documents (For references in languages other than English)
If you are not employed earlier you can skip this section and add more about your academic projects or training in your report.
Report
If you don’t have any prior job experience, we will write your CDR around your academic projects, training, and workshops. Engineers must submit a Competency Demonstration Report to get a skilled migration visa to work in Australia. EA evaluates these engineers based on their CDR reports, and the Migration Skills Assessment has established precise rules for preparing CDR reports.
- Continuing Professional Development: A CPD statement must include all information about your engineering advancements following your undergraduate diploma in a list format.
- Three Career Episodes: Career episode describes each aspect of your engineering activity and work experience. It comprises applying engineering skills to a certain profession and drafting the report in MSA format.
- Summary Statement: You have to include a brief analysis of all three career episodes in the summary statement. Only one summary statement is written for each of the three career occurrences.
Once you’ve completed writing, double-check that it’s plagiarism-free and follows the MSA booklet’s rules. It’s required because if the CDR report is rejected or judged unrelated to the MSA format, you might be denied to enter Australia. If you’ve been claiming engineering employment for more than a year, you’ll need to write a reference letter from your employer with relevant information.
